#2022

I thought a lot about what title to give this, my first new post of 2022. I mean, one of the ‘rules’ of blogging is that you think long and hard about your post titles and pick a good one. Whatever that means. As you can see, for this one I went with simple. #2022. Sometimes, simple works best.

2021 was anything but simple. Complex. It was that. Challenging. Yep. It was certainly that too.

I am not a resolution-making kind of gal. Never have been. This is not to say I don’t set goals for myself. I do. But New Year’s resolutions just don’t work — not for me anyway.

Resolutions represent too much pressure. Too much ‘you’re not good enough as is’ type of thinking. Too much comparing and too much judging. Okay, yes, perhaps too much accountability.

Selecting words or a word to guide me or to focus on doesn’t do it for me anymore either. Some folks and fellow bloggers love this. I love reading their posts about their chosen words.

Here are two from a couple fellow bloggers to check out if you’re interested in exploring this idea further: Welcoming 2022 with three little words. And: Words of Focus and Intention for the New Year.

As for me, I prefer to keep my guide/focus word options open. Any word I pick today I might decide to ditch and swap out tomorrow. Not sure what this says about me.

The point is, we’re all different in how we approach the new year.

Make resolutions. Or don’t. State affirmations. Or don’t. Choose focus words. Or don’t.

Regardless what you do or do not do, know this. You are worthy right now this minute. Just as you are. No matter what the scale says. Even if you have no plans to exercise, get organized or to start loading your plate with more veggies in 2022. Or ever. Your flaws and imperfections may or may not need addressing. Regardless, you are pretty darn amazing as is. Yes, YOU. As is. No makeover or betterment required.

Yes, believe it!

Having said all that, every new year is about newness. Possibility. Change. Fresh starts. Clean slates. Forgiveness. Aspirations. Hopes. Dreams. Potential. And on and on.

Personally, I’m pretty pumped about 2022, and here are a few reasons why:

Dear Hubby and I will be welcoming not one, but two grandbabies in early 2022. Woohoo! Both boys! So yeah, quiet family gatherings are likely a thing of the past. Not that they ever have been quiet. Well, before covid anyway. We are ready.

Dear Hubby’s retirement, and all the changes that brings — this might be the year.

There’s going to be a new puppy added to our family later this year. Finally. I cannot wait!

By golly, I’m going to get that third book published, and I can’t wait to share more about that with you.

I’ll keep writing and blogging. Cuz why stop now? No retirement for me!

Yes, these things, as well as many others, tell me I’m blessed. Blessed and grateful.

Pretty sure we were all ready to send 2021 on its way and that most of us are looking forward to 2022. No matter what the new year brings, let’s keep sharing. Let’s keep talking about the good stuff, yes, but also the hard stuff. Especially the hard stuff, of which we know there will be plenty of.

No matter what 2022 brings, going it together is better than going it alone.

As always, I see you. I hear you, and I care about what you have to say.

Happy New Year, Dear Readers! 🎉🎉

May 2022 be simpler and kinder to us all.
