5 Ways to Change Your Mindset




I’m sure at some point in your life you’ve been asked “What’s your aim in life?” and I’m sure amongst your answer was something along the lines of “to be happy”. To be happy, a saying that seems so small and modest and something we all aspire to be and yet sometimes it feels like its unachievable.

I think we can all agree that we’ve all been at a place in life where we’ve been the “negative Nancy”. Maybe work is getting to you, school is too much, home life is stressful or whatever it may be that’s brining you down. You want to be angry and sulk and you may even feel like there’s no light or peace at the end of the tunnel. I’m here to let you in on a little secret – it’s all in our heads. Being happy is a mindset – not some physical thing you can attain. Even when it seems impossible to look on the bright side of things, it’s 100% in our power to transform the way we see & even live our lives.

The purpose of this blog is to serve as a reminder that we control our outlook and the outcome of our lives. Here are a few simple and easy ways you can turn that mental frown upside down!

Happy Journal

A pretty simple yet very effective thing to do. At the end of each day write down all the good that came out of your day. It could be as little as you really enjoyed your coffee that morning or you finally got that to do list all checked off. Write out your large and small victories and be thankful for them!


My personal favorite. I love a good pep talk and I love it anymore coming from myself. I’ve learned that you’ve got to be your own hype women (or man) sometimes. If you’re having a bad day, stand in front of a mirror and say out loud all the things you love about yourself. And say it with spunk! know it may sound silly, but I promise you’ll be in a better mind space once it’s all said and done.


While it may sound simple, meditating even for 5 minutes a day is actually a bit harder than you’d think. Completely clearing your mind takes practice but the benefits behind it are great!

Seek Positive Friendships

I’ve often heard the saying “you are who you surround yourself with”. Throughout life we sometimes have to step back and reevaluate those we keep close. I’m not saying ditch your friends who may be going through a rough patch and aren’t being the most positive person in your life right now. I’m saying maybe it’s time to look at the relationships that constantly feel draining and unhealthy vs the relationships that uplift you and make you feel supported.

Social Media

Boy oh boy, is this a major one. Social media platforms are the #1 thing in the world right now and while we can’t completely control what comes across our screens, we can take steps to ensure that we are at least seeing more positive content than negative. A few simple steps to do so is , unfollow or unfriend anyone who makes you feel negative about yourself in any aspect, find new pages to follow that support positivity, opens your mind up to challenging and healthy conversation topics, post all the things that you love and enjoy so that on your bad days you’re a simple click away from seeing all your happy moments captured and uploaded into one place!
