Today’s example of Lifeline in Action comes from Utah!

Dr. Paul Harris has been providing Utahns with quality dental care for nearly 20 years now. He takes active interest in furthering his dental expertise through his involvement in the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Additionally, he serves as a volunteer dentist for Dental Lifeline Network (DLN). His involvement with DLN allows for him to help people particularly in need, like Mary.

Mary, 62, suffers from several serious health problems including lupus, multiple sclerosis, and COPD. Her dental health had deteriorated as a result. Her small, fixed income kept her from being able to afford the dental treatment she needed. Fortunately, Mary was referred to DLN and matched with Dr. Harris.

Dr. Harris discovered that Mary had some missing teeth, and many of the remaining ones were decayed. He provided fillings, extracted some of her decayed teeth, and fitted her for dentures, which were generously donated by Trident Dental Laboratories. Mary was very appreciative of the donated care.

Volunteers like Trident and Dr. Harris are what keep DLN going. We value their compassion dearly, and appreciate their dedication to helping people in need. Dr. Harris volunteers because he recognizes how much help he can provide from his own office.

“Many dentists travel around the world delivering care to needy populations. We have much dental need right around us too. When we all do a little, these needs can be addressed.”
—Dr. Paul Harris, DLN Volunteer
