Patient Panel | Mental Health Post-Pandemic
[ad_1]
How has navigating COVID-19 impacted your own or your loved ones’ mental health?
As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, WEGO Health dives deeper into addressing mental health post-pandemic and how we can come together as a community to improve resources and support. In this patient panel, we sit down with patient leaders Natasha Tracy and Cecilia McGough to explore how the pandemic shifted our understanding of mental health and the importance of moving at your own pace as we continue to adjust back to “normalcy.”
Key Takeaways
Conversations about mental health should take place year-round – not just during awareness months. It’s not enough to to simply post a hashtag – we must proactively advocate for policies and opportunities that support mental health needs in medical, professional and legal environments.
It’s important to consider the difference between mental health and mental illness. We all have mental health needs, but those with diagnosed mental illnesses often need more than 5 deep breathes and positive affirmations.
There are a lot of unknowns in our world right now. Give yourself the compassion you deserve in this moment, and move at your own pace as things start to change or transition. We all have different medical needs and comfort levels, so try not to compare your journey to anyone else’s.
