Three Reasons to Add Avocado to Your Diet
Not only are avocados delicious, they’re also a healthy addition to your diet! Here are three reasons to pick up a few avocados at the store and make the tasty guacamole recipe listed below.
High in nutrients. Avocados are high in vitamins B6, C, E, and K! They also are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, potassium, and lots of other nutrients—all of which are essential for daily health.
Great source of healthy fat. Avocados contain monounsaturated fat, which helps you feel full, longer! Healthy fats are essential to digestion and absorbing nutrients.
Packed with fiber. Fiber is necessary for digestive health, and avocados contain anywhere from 8 to 14 grams of fiber per avocado (depending on the size).
- 4 large avocados
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 Tbsp lime juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 Tbsp chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped tomato
- 1/4 cup chopped red pepper
In a large bowl, add onion, cilantro, and garlic. Using a fork lightly crush together.
Add avocados to the bowl and lightly mash.
Add salt, pepper, chili powder, paprika, and lime juice and mash into the avocado mixture.
Fold in the chopped tomato and red pepper, grab a handful of your favorite chips, and enjoy!
